Objective: The goal of the Esteli, Nicaragua Project is to provide materials for the construction of decent, basic houses for special needs children and their families living in extreme poverty. This project was initiated by North Vancouver school teacher, Marly Haller, in 2004. She continues to work with her tireless groups of student volunteers to raise funds for the project, which to date, has financed over 20 homes, as well as a small medical clinic in a home for disadvantaged youth in the city of Esteli. All funds are managed by a registered Canadian NGO, Casa Canadiense, which organizes a diverse range of community development projects ands assists Canadians students, and adults alike, who wish to go to Nicaragua to donate their efforts to promote the well being of the Nicaraguan children and their communities. Marly Haller goes regularly to Esteli to meet with the families and to build reciprical relationships that enrich the lives of both donors and receivers.
Goal: Our target is to raise sufficient funds for the construction of a basic dwelling for a family in dire need of shelter ($5,000-7,000). Donations are welcomed.
